Conference Schedule

The following is a summary of the major conference events, exclusive of the main oral sessions, demos, and BoFs.

Tours

The tours of Kitt Peak and Fred Whipple Observatory will take place on Sunday, 15 Oct. The buses will depart the hotel promptly at the times indicated. The return time is approximate, but in any case will allow tour guests to attend the FITS BoF if they desire.

Registration

The registration desk is located in the hotel Lobby Foyer, and will be open during the following times.

For those who have not pre-paid their registration (or who owe a partial payment), please note that only the following forms of payment will be accepted at the registration desk:

  • Credit card (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover)
  • Cash (exact change, please)
  • Travelers checks if the denomination is US dollars

Poster/Demo Set-Up, Tear-Down

The poster and demo rooms will be accessible begining at about 13:00 to allow presentors to affix posters or set up demo equipment. Note that access to the internet for demos may not be available until somewhat later in the afternoon.

Poster and demo break-down will begin immediately after the end of the last oral session. Posters need to be removed by 17:00 on Wednesday, 18 Oct. Posters not removed by then will be disposed of.

OPTICON Business Meeting

A business meeting for the OPTICON 3.6 Network will take place on Sunday, 15 Oct., in Canyon I/III from 13:00 to 16:00.

Opening Reception

The Opening Reception will take place in the Arizona Foyer from 19:00 to 21:00. Attendees (including guests) must wear their conference badges. Light fare will be served, and the first 3 drinks of beer, wine, margaritas, or soft drinks are complementary for those who have signed up for the reception (though you will need the drink tickets that are provided in your registration kit).

Breakfast and Lunch

A continental breakfast will be served buffet style on Monday through Wednesday in the Terrace Level Foyer from 7:30 to 8:30; box lunches, including one soft drink, will be provided to each attendee in the Terrace Level Foyer from 12:30 to 14:00. Attendees must wear their conference badges to obtain food. Seating is available in many locations, including the Terrace Level Foyer, the patio, or down by the pool.

Banquet

The Conference Banquet will take place in Canyon I/III from 19:00 to 22:00. Attendees (including guests) must wear their conference badges. Cocktails will be served starting at 19:00, and the first drink of beer, wine, or soft drinks are complementary (though you will need the drink ticket that is provided in your registration kit). Dinner will be served at 19:30.
